Swati Sen

Hello,

I am a senior research fellow at Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Kolkata and working on theoretical soft matter physics under the supervision of Dr. Arindam Kundagrami (weblink).

Areas of expertise

I am interested to work especially on systems in which the basic concepts of equilibrium and non-equilibrium statistical physics can be applied. Soft materials such as colloids, liquid crystals, polymers and its different varieties such as individual chains in a solution and cross-linked chains in a gel, polymer brushes - both uncharged and charged versions thereof, etc. are very common in nature, and important from the perspective of scientific, medical and technological applications. The "softness", i.e., low values of shear-resistivity of these less elastic materials, makes them interesting and their treatment quite different from traditional "hard" condensed matter systems.
