Welcome to my homepage. I am T. Venkata Karthik (people call me Karthik) a budding Mathematical Physicist. I am interested in almost everything everywhere (measure theoretic pun intended XD) in Science and quite passionate about Mathematics and Physics with an ambition to understand the laws governing the universe by developing the necessary Mathematical methods and tools for it.
- Current Research: I have just begun my Ph.D. at the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, under the supervision of Dr. Branimir Cacic, in the area of Non- commutative Geometry and Mathematical Physics, in Fall 2018.
- My Background: I graduated with BS-MS Dual Degree from IISER Kolkata in June 2018, majoring in Mathematics. While at IISER-K, I took a lot of electives in Theoretical Physics which would perhaps entitle me with a Minor in Physics, if one considers the upcoming method of awarding degrees in IISER-K.
- Research Interests: Mathematical Physics. Specifically: Representation Theory, Quantum Field Theory, Riemannian Geometry and Gravity. My CV. My Master's thesis, which I did under the supervision of Dr. Swarnendu Datta, is titled "Representation theory of Finite Groups with Examples"
I play Carnatic music on guitar. Reading manga, listening to music and analyzing nature is how I spend my time. Occasionally I draw, paint and cook food.
For those who know me and haven't seen me exist (XD) and for those who haven't met me, below is a pic of me chilling out at Kovalam beach, Trivandrum, Kerala,
while consciously or unconsciously recalling Issac Newton's quote,
"I do not know what I may appear to the world, but to myself I seem to have been only like a boy playing on the seashore, and diverting myself in now and then finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell than ordinary, whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me."
