Hello! I'm Adrish, a 4th-year BS-MS student majoring in Biological Sciences at IISER Kolkata.

I am a recipient the prestigious Khorana Scholarship for Scholars 2025. As a visiting scholar at Emory University School of Medicine (USA), I worked under the supervision of Prof. Michael Koval, investigating the regulation of stress pathways in glioblastoma (Grade IV glioma).

I exist in the space between wet-lab biology and dry-lab computation. My primary focus lies in Cancer Biology, Cell-to-Cell Communication, and Genetics, but I believe the best discoveries happen when you break disciplinary boundaries.

Background: Glioblastoma (GBM) is a highly malignant and aggressive brain tumor. Gap junction protein Connexin43 (Cx43) plays a crucial role in GBM by having both tumor-suppressing and tumor-promoting roles.

Findings: Here, we identify a critical tumor-promoting role of Cx43 in GBM by functioning as a non-canonical phenotypic stability factor and driving partial EMT. Using high-grade mouse astrocytoma cell lines, we found that CT2A cells had higher Cx43 gap junction assembly compared to KR158 cells. Increased assembly activates the NF-κB signaling pathway, promoting a hybrid E/M phenotype, enhanced self-renewal, stress resistance, and collective cell migration.

Conclusion: These results offer valuable insights into targeting Cx43-mediated signaling pathways due to the potential tumor-promoting role of Cx43.
