Petrography and Geochemistry of Clast samples from Choksti and Miru Conglomerate systems in Ladakh

Field work was done in Ladakh in May-June 2010 under the supervision of Prof. Jonathan Aitchison, Dept. of Earth Sciences, University of Hong Kong. Rock samples for this study were collected from two zones, the Miru formation and Choksti formation in the Indus suture zone. The petrography and Geochemistry studies was done in the labs of Geological Survey of India, Nagpur.

When and Where did India and Asia Collide? - Seminar Course

I did a seminar course in IISER Kolkata on the age of initiation of the collision of the Indian plate with the Eurasian Plate. While most workers believe a 55ma age for the collision, new work by Aitchison et al suggests two phased collision, one at 55ma and the main collision at 35ma.

Modelling of Meandering River Systems - Seminar Course

I did a seminar course in IISER Kolkata on the dynamics of meandering river systems. A method for automation of recognition of river meanders from landsat images was studied, and it was tried to be applied on Landsat images of Mohanpur region.

  • Seminar 1 - Recognizing river meanders from Landsat images
  • Seminar 2 - A simulation model for Meandering River systems

Geohydrological aspect of Fluoride contamination of ground water

The project on Geohydrological aspect of Fluoride contamination was done under the guidance of Dr. Pawan Labhasetwar at the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute. A risk analysis based on geological data was done for each district of the state of Rajasthan.

Study of 2-D turbulence using gravity driven soap films

The project on Non-Linear Dynamics was done under the guidance of Prof. Ram Ramaswamy at the School of Physical Sciences, Jwaharlal Nehru University, Delhi
