Research Interests - Primary
- Probability Theory and Stochastic Processes: I am interested in contemporary research with respect to tools and techniques to analyse stochastic processes. For my MS Project under the guidance of Dr. Anirvan Chakraborty; I studied Prof. Robert J Adler's 'An Introduction to Continuity and Extrema of General Gaussian Processes' where he introduces entropy and majorising measures in the context of generalizing the analysis of Gaussian processes. I also read Prof. Manjunath Krishnapur's notes on Kahane's inequality and its corollaries.
I am interested in pursuing theoretical probability and analysis of stochastic processes. Specifically, topics like majorising measures, measure-indexed processes, and zero-one laws are topics I am keen on exploring.
- Extreme Value Statistics: I took up Extreme Value Theory as an Independent Study with the guidance of Dr. Anirvan Chakraborty, owing to its immense relevance in contemporary research and it being on the interface of statistics and probability theory. The subject deals with the probabilistic and statistical analysis of extreme events and particularly revolves around the 'Fisher-Tippett-Gnedenko Theorem'. I read a few chapters and solved questions from "Extreme Value Theory: An Introduction" by Ana Ferreira and Lauren de Haan.
Research Interests (Other)
- World History, with an Indian perspective: By nature of my childhood, I have been interested in several connections across culture, language, food, etc that I could identiy among different peoples. I want to know how far interactions, in terms of science, education, trade, philosophy, and spirituality; went between kingdoms and people from the east to the west and from the south to the north of India, with the middle east, Europe, Africa, China and South East Asia. Modern narratives are riddled with colonial and political impositions. As of now, my first step is to actively prevent my own biases, accept that I know nothing, and enable myself to think critically when coming across data. Next, I will seek to remove dependence on translations and try to get to historical sources on my own someday.
