Day 3: Trekking, Waterfalls, and the Road to Lamahatta (6th October)

Sunrise at Sittong

The alarm rang before dawn. Groggy yet determined, we dragged ourselves out of bed and hiked to a nearby viewpoint to witness the sunrise. The first rays of light painted the hills in hues of gold and pink—an ethereal sight that made every lost hour of sleep worthwhile.

After breakfast, we embarked on a trek to Sittong's highest waterfall. The path was steep and challenging, but every step was rewarded with mesmerizing views. The sound of cascading water grew louder until, finally, we stood before a breathtaking waterfall, its misty embrace welcoming us. We played, splashed, and simply soaked in the moment before heading back to our homestay by noon.

Post-lunch, it was time to move to our next destination—Lamahatta. The journey was punctuated with stops at scenic spots, local food stalls serving delicious momos, and countless photo breaks.

Upon reaching Lamahatta, we immediately set off on a pine forest trek. The towering trees, the cool evening breeze, and the sheer silence of nature made it a surreal experience. As the sun set, Kanchenjunga made its majestic appearance, standing tall against the orange sky. It was one of those rare moments that reminded us how small we are in the grand scheme of things.

The night was spent enjoying tomba, a local fermented millet drink, warming our souls against the crisp mountain air.

Sittong had left us with a sense of intimacy with nature, and now, Lamahatta was ready to weave its own spell.
